Aspire Defence Services wins at PFM annual awards

Aspire Defence Services has received industry recognition by accepting the prestigious Partners in FM – Secure Facilities Award at the Premises and Facilities Management (PFM) annual awards ceremony held in London.

The PFM Awards 2012, now in their 19th year, are the most sought after awards in the facilities management sector.  They recognise best practice in partnering in facilities management and support services between service suppliers and their clients, as well as the skills and enterprise of people engaged in this sector.

A Carillion and KBR joint venture, Aspire Defence Services delivers the facilities management aspects of the Project Allenby/Connaught contract, the largest infrastructure PFI ever let by the Ministry of Defence.  Based on the four Army garrisons in Aldershot and across the Salisbury Plain, the MOD and Aspire Defence have formed a strategic partnership to manage and deliver a modern, flexible living and working environment for soldiers, supporting military fighting power, enhancing Army recruitment and retention and providing long-term value.  The quality of life for over 18,700 soldiers, 20% of the trained British Army, has improved thanks to the provision of modern, high quality, fully serviced and purpose built accommodation.

Where there were previously more than 50 support contracts across these garrisons, this single contract is an example of a total facilities management service and provides sustained value for money on a number of levels.

Leading sports presenter, Gabby Logan, was hosting the awards ceremony and in presenting the Partners in FM – Secure Facilities Award commented, “The judges said they found an impressive partnership that addressed all aspects of the task in hand in a collaborative way, sharing any problems openly to achieve effective solutions”.

Graham Blow, Managing Director for Aspire Defence Services said, “I am delighted that the strong partnering relationship between Aspire Defence Services and the MOD’s Project/Allenby Connaught Team has been recognised by this truly special award.  However, we could not have achieved this without the help, support and encouragement of our colleagues in the Army.  The true winners of course are the soldiers for whom we all work to fulfil our ambition of ‘making soldiers’ lives better’”.
