Staff who were closely involved in helping the three Aspire businesses, ADL, ADSL and ADCW reach ISO certification within 18 months of contract start-up, came together with Bureau Veritas Certification (BVC) to celebrate the milestone achieved and recognise the considerable effort that had been involved.

Vic Bowen, Managing Director and Peter Farrand, Marketing Director, of BVC attended a reception at the Aspire Business Centre with representatives from all three Aspire businesses to formally acknowledge the achievement of:

  • ISO 9001 – quality management systems
  • ISO14001 – environmental management systems
  • Additionally, in recognition of our Safety First Always value, ADSL and ADCW achieved the OHSAS 18001 standard which recognises occupational health and safety management systems

In addressing the teams Graham Blow, Managing Director ADSL, emphasised what a challenge it had been to achieve certification for such a large and complex organisation as Aspire Defence to all three standards only 16 months after Service Commencement in July 2006. He congratulated everyone involved in meeting this significant milestone. Vic Bowen added, “We congratulate Aspire on achieving these milestones. When you awarded us the contract, you stressed the importance of working together in partnership to improve Aspire’s effectiveness on this complex enterprise. Our audit team has found Aspire as an organisation to be open, transparent and committed. This has contributed greatly to your accomplishment and we look forward to a strong and developing future relationship.”

However, the business does not stand still and will continue to be assessed to ensure these standards are maintained. BVC will make a further visit to Aspire in June.
