Aspire Defence Wins Best Partnership with Local Authority Building Control Award
Aspire Defence Capital Works, together with the Wiltshire Council’s Building Control team received the Best Partnership with Local Authority Building Control award at the LABC Building Excellence Grand Final, held in London on Friday 28 January 2022.
The team beat off ten other regional winners to achieve the award which recognises a successful partnership that began in 2003 and has endured through the build programmes for Project Allenby & Connaught (PAC) and the Army Basing Programme (ABP) which delivered new and enhanced service accommodation for troops covering 1,240 hectares across four Wiltshire garrisons.
The effective collaboration between ADCW, its designers, contractors, and Wiltshire Council, together with the enormous scale of both new and refurbished buildings delivered over the years, was a major consideration for the judges in choosing this partnership as the winner of this award.
This successful outcome is a result of effective collaboration across the many teams involved in the project, from design to construction and building control. Speaking on this collaborative effort, Richard Tindal, Aspire Defence Capital Works Projects Director commented, “this award is the result of the long term, collaborative approach with our many partners and stakeholders, reflecting our core values that has been at the heart of how we like to do business.”
Erika Gemmell, Director/Head of Defence & Security at Scott Brownrigg who leads the design aspect of the contract said, “For close to 20 years Scott Brownrigg have led design on behalf of Aspire Defence Capital Works, working in a co-located office with a multidisciplinary team which has fostered collaborative working, excellent communication and positive engagement with all stakeholders. The award for Best Partnership demonstrates the teams’ commitment to long term relationships to deliver outstanding results”.
