In addition to our Corporate National Charity, British Heart Foundation, ADSL are very pleased to be building a more local relationship with Alabaré Homes for Veterans, a Salisbury based charity that works to support former Service Men and Women.
It costs £1,696 per month to house and support a Veteran and although there is some support in the form of government benefits and from other military charities, this still leaves a shortfall of £644 per Veteran.
To help raise funds Alabaré have a number of Charity Emporiums locally in Salisbury, Amesbury and Wilton selling a wide range of donated or salvaged items.
ADSL staff will support Alabare through volunteering, coaching and fundraising. ADSL will match every £1 raised by its staff.
Alabaré Christian Care and Support were founded in Salisbury in 1991 and in recognition of the number of former military personnel who were sleeping rough, they launched their Homes for Veterans programme and their first Home for Veterans in 2009. Last year they supported 249 Veterans with temporary accommodation who were homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. Alabaré have 109 bed spaces in 23 Homes (including 3 in Salisbury) across the South West of England and Wales.
Alabaré’s services include support with debt management, drugs and alcohol dependencies, health issues, both mental and physical, access to training and education and assistance back into employment.
