On June 7, employees came together to commemorate World Environment Day by participating in a Wild Walk event organised by the Environment Team. The event took place at Swinton Barracks in Perham Down, an area with a rich wildlife population, and offered a glimpse into the natural diversity that exist within the Garrisons.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

During the walk, the group encountered a variety of insects and plants, including the Smooth Newt, Damselfly, Ox-Eye Daisy and Bumble Bees. The walk also revealed the presence of Wild Teasel and Vipers Bugles. These observations shed light on the biodiversity present and the essential roles they all play in supporting the local ecosystem.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

One of the most fascinating discoveries made during the walk was a House Martins\u2019 nest, which had been repurposed by Wrens as a nesting site. This finding demonstrated the adaptability of the different species and how they use what is available to them in their surroundings.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Wild Walk not only provided a unique opportunity for employees to connect with nature but also offered a firsthand look at the efforts being made by the Environmental Team to conserve and protect the local wildlife habitats. It served as a reminder of the importance of preserving our environment for future generations and promoting the sustainability of our planet.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
