ADSL is pleased to announce the successful completion of a major refurbishment and lifecycle upgrade at St George\u2019s\u00a0Church,\u00a0a Grade II listed landmark\u00a0located\u00a0adjacent to\u00a0Bulford Camp.\u00a0The church foundation stone was laid on 13 October 1920 by Field Marshall Lord Methuen and was finally completed in 1927. With several impressive\u00a0stained-glass\u00a0windows and WW1 memorials,\u00a0the Church has provided Bulford\u00a0Camp\u2019s main place of worship for\u00a0nearly 100\u00a0years.\u00a0This refurbishment was delivered\u00a0between March 2025 and February 2026\u00a0and\u00a0carefully balanced the preservation of historic character with the creation of a safe,\u00a0reliable\u00a0and welcoming environment for the\u00a0local and\u00a0military community it serves.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Set within a live operational setting, the project required close coordination and careful planning to ensure works progressed without disruption to nearby military activities. From the outset, the focus was on protecting the church\u2019s heritage while delivering lasting improvements that will support its continued use for many years to come.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The programme of improvements was designed to protect the building and enhance how it functions day to day. Roofs were replaced and repaired to prevent leaks and improve weather protection, helping safeguard the church for the long term. Delicate restoration work to stained-glass windows and stonework preserved the building\u2019s historic features, while internal wooden flooring was refreshed to improve durability without losing its original character.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Behind the scenes, significant upgrades improved comfort and safety throughout the church. Heating systems were renewed to ensure more reliable warmth, electrical supplies were updated, and lighting\u00a0was\u00a0enhanced both inside and outside the building. Fire detection and alarm systems were also replaced, providing added reassurance to all who use the space. All systems were thoroughly tested to ensure the church now\u00a0operates\u00a0safely and efficiently, in line with modern standards,\u00a0while\u00a0remaining\u00a0true to its historic setting.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Beyond the physical improvements, the project\u2019s impact is felt most strongly in the community it serves. St George\u2019s Church continues to play an important role as a place of worship, reflection and connection for the local community, serving personnel, military families and veterans. By investing in its future, the project supports wellbeing and continuity for the wider Bulford community.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Delivered in collaboration with Concept Building Services (Southern) Ltd,\u00a0Kingsley Roofing,\u00a0Keltbray,\u00a0Aaron Evans Architects Ltd, BJP Consulting Engineers and Abbey Scaffolding, the\u00a0project also marks a significant milestone as the first large development of this scale delivered end to end by the Tidworth and Bulford\u00a0Capital\u00a0Projects Team.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

With St George\u2019s Church now restored and\u00a0future<\/span>\u2011proofed, ADSL\u00a0remains\u00a0committed to delivering projects that protect heritage\u00a0and\u00a0support military life.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
