Effective collaboration contributes to Best Partnership award win for Aspire Defence.
Aspire Defence has won an award for Best Partnership with Wiltshire Councils Building Control Team at the Building Excellence Awards
Aspire Defence Capital Works, together with the Wiltshire Council’s Building Control team received the Best Partnership with Local Authority Building Control award at the LABC Building Excellence Grand Final, held in London. The awards are designed to acclaim best practise, quality and standards in construction.
The team beat off ten other regional winners to achieve the award which recognises a successful partnership that began in 2003 and has endured through the build programmes for Project Allenby & Connaught (PAC) and the Army Basing Programme (ABP) which delivered new and enhanced service accommodation for troops covering 1,240 hectares across four Wiltshire garrisons.
The effective collaboration between ADCW, its designers, contractors, and Wiltshire Council, together with the enormous scale of both new and refurbished buildings delivered over the years, was a major consideration for the judges in choosing this partnership as the winner of this award.
This successful outcome is a result of effective collaboration across the many teams involved in the project, from design to construction and building control. Speaking on this collaborative effort, Richard Tindal, Aspire Defence Capital Works Projects Director commented, “this award is the result of the long term, collaborative approach with our many partners and stakeholders, reflecting our core values that has been at the heart of how we like to do business.”
Erika Gemmell, Director/Head of Defence & Security at Scott Brownrigg who leads the design aspect of the contract said,
“For close to 20 years Scott Brownrigg have led design on behalf of Aspire Defence Capital Works, working in a co-located office with a multidisciplinary team which has fostered collaborative working, excellent communication and positive engagement with all stakeholders. The award for Best Partnership demonstrates the teams’ commitment to long term relationships to deliver outstanding results”.
The judges considered the scale and length of the partnership – formed between Aspire Defence and Wiltshire Building Control in 2003 to support the delivery of two MOD PFI contracts to provide new and enhanced service accommodation. With a project of this scale there were a significant number of stakeholders involved and communication was key across all stages, ensuring that all of the Army requirements were achieved. Between 2006 and 2021 475 new buildings and 192 refurbished buildings were delivered on time and budget, safely and to a high-quality finish, covering 1,240 hectares, across four garrisons.
Congratulating the partnership, Lorna Stimpson, LABC Chief Executive said,
The strength of the partnership has been built on trust and respect and fostering a real team spirit to achieve success
