New roof for soldiers’ gym

A major re-roofing project is underway at a soldiers’ gym at Tidworth Garrison.
The works, which are being carried out by Aspire Defence Services Limited (ADSL) at Aliwal Barracks, began in May and will continue through to January 2021.
Contractors are replacing the entire exterior of the roof and the interior ceiling tiles, to ensure the building remains weather-proof and to enhance its through-life performance. With a total project cost in excess of £1m, this represents a significant investment which will ensure Service personnel continue to have access to high quality sports facilities on the defence estate.
Steve Webb, Project Manager for ADSL, said:
“Our team has been working hard to maintain pace on these re-roofing works, despite the impact of Coronavirus on the construction industry over recent months. The safety of all site operatives will remain a priority, with social distancing measures in place, as we look ahead to continued progress on this major project.”
ADSL is contracted under Project Allenby/Connaught (PAC) to maintain the defence estate at garrisons across Salisbury Plain Training Area and at Aldershot, on behalf of the Defence Infrastructure Organisation. The works are being funded and managed by Aspire Defence Limited.
