Accommodation arrives at Aldershot
New soldiers’ accommodation arrived at Aldershot last month, marking another key milestone in Aspire Defence’s delivery under the Army Basing Programme (ABP) and our Project Allenby/Connaught (PAC) contract.
The Single Living Accommodation (SLA) modular units, manufactured by Dorset-based supplier Rollalong, were craned into place at Mons Barracks on 14 March.
This latest SLA build contributes to a critical phase within Aspire Defence Capital Works’ (ADCW) construction programme, to provide more than 2,600 bed spaces across the PAC footprint, Salisbury Plain Training Area and Aldershot, for Service personnel returning from Germany and moving within the UK by 2019.
The event, which received widespread coverage in local press and broadcast media, was attended by the Garrison Commander, Lt Col Nigel MacGregor SCOTS (pictured below). Senior representatives of Army Basing Programme also attended with Allan Thomson, Chief Executive of Aspire Defence Limited, and the project team from ADCW.
Mark Duddy, ABP Programme Director, said:
“It’s really exciting to see such a huge amount of construction progress across the Garrisons. I look forward to continuing our strong and collaborative partnership with Aspire and delivering first class accommodation and facilities for our Service personnel.”
Allan Thomson added:
“It’s fantastic to see work gathering pace at Aldershot and across all sites. We’re very proud of our role preparing a first-rate, purpose-built home for troops, delivering the required infrastructure to make soldiers’ lives better.”
