New Physical & Recreational Training Facility for Royal Engineers

State-of-the-art sports centre supports soldiers’ health & fitness
Royal Engineers at Perham Down are benefitting from a new Physical & Recreational Training Facility (P&RTF).
The building, which has a gym, sports hall, squash courts and outdoor all-weather pitch, represents the 100th ‘major asset’ completed by Aspire Defence Capital Works for the Army Basing Programme (ABP).
Under the ABP, around 4,000 Service personnel returned from Germany during summer 2019 alongside numerous Unit moves within the UK. The programme has required significant construction, expansion and demolition of garrison infrastructure, including the creation of some 2,400 bed spaces across Salisbury Plain Training Area (SPTA) and at Aldershot.
Around 130 new buildings will be delivered by summer 2020 for SPTA and Aldershot, including healthcare and early years education facilities to benefit soldiers and Service families in Larkhill, Bulford and Tidworth.
