On our work experience taster weeks, you will have the opportunity to meet colleagues across the business whilst exploring the many different careers we can offer! You will learn about the various business areas and get to meet the teams that work together to support our military customers.

We have opportunities for those in Year 9 and above, and also offer work experience opportunities for Armed Forces Personnel transitioning from the Army.

The programme is tailored to individual interests, and we can offer a week in a specific field or a mixed work experience across multiple fields. You can work at both the Head Office and/or Garrison to get real hands-on experience, plus take part in some additional work-related activities such as CV writing, completing Job Applications and Mock Interview preparations.

Placement year

A placement year is a paid year in the workplace as part of a higher education course. Placements years are integral to our business. Our programmes are designed to provide students and young professionals with invaluable hands-on experience, allowing them to apply their academic knowledge in real-world settings. For our business, accessing fresh perspectives and new ideas is important to ensure we continue to develop a robust and dynamic workforce that is well-prepared to meet the challenges of tomorrow.

ADSL can offer a supportive team where you will be encouraged to use your initiative, take on important responsibilities and gain practical operational experience working at the frontline or within our busy functional teams. You will also be partnered with a mentor who will provide you with additional support and guidance as you develop and grow in your career.

My time at ADSL was very successful in developing all the important and necessary skills to work as a Surveyor within a team. It was always enjoyable, largely due to the polite, mindful, and caring colleagues in all the teams I had the pleasure of being a part of. Looking back at my younger 17-year-old self who was unsure of what career path to take, and who took a chance on a work experience interview, I can now sit here as a 25-year-old with a professional career thanks to the experiences I gained.
