ADSL Team At Aldershot Supports Energise Me Awards

On 8 March 2018 at Southampton Football Club the spotlight was on the amazing people who are leading the way to a happier, healthier and more active community.

From over 270 nominations, Energise Me presented 39 shortlisted nominees with Energise Me Awards 2018 Certificates or Trophies.

The Awards celebrate sport and physical activity across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. Competition was strong and all 270+ nominees deserve recognition.

The evening shone the spotlight on 13 winners and 26 runners-up whose stories were truly inspirational.

Guest speakers during the evening were Victoria Gosling OBE, who talked about her current role as Invictus Games Strategic Advisor for the UK Delegation Board as well as her 21 years’ service within the Royal Airforce and Dave Henson MBE who was injured whilst serving in the British Army in Afghanistan resulting in the loss of both his legs. He participated in the Invictus Games before moving to European Championships, Rio Paralympic Games and the IPC World Para Athletics Championships with great success.

ADSL and Aldershot Garrison have had a relationship with Energise Me for several years through the Hampshire School Games, held across the Aldershot sports facilities.

ADSL sponsored the Team of the Year Award and Aidan Murphy, ADSL Operations Director-East presented the award to the Winners:

Stephanie Ricketts and Toula Raftapoulou – Gymnastics, Eastleigh

Stephanie Ricketts and Toula Raftapoulou are acrobatic gymnasts. In April 2017 the girls were selected to the Elite National Squad. They represented Great Britain for the first time at the 2017 Junior European Championships in Poland, in the Junior Women’s Pair category, and took 3^rd place.

In the dynamic routine final, they scooped 2^nd place. The girls will shortly be trialing again to represent Great Britain at the 2018 World Championships.

Congratulations also go to shortlisted nominees Bramshaw Golf Club Junior Team and Winchester Hockey Club Under 14 Boys.
