A new home for soldiers at Perham Down
New Junior Ranks’ (JR) accommodation arrived at Perham Down in May, as part of Aspire’s delivery to support the Army Basing Programme (ABP).
The first Single Living Accommodation (SLA) modular units were craned into place on 11 April and the modules for all four 40 bed JRSLA were craned in by 5 May. The modules are manufactured by Aspire’s Dorset-based supply partner, Rollalong.
Each module is precisely engineered, containing single en-suite bedrooms, plantroom, utility and baggage rooms. Once fixed in place, the modules are covered with an exterior skin of brickwork and render with a timber truss and tiled roof. Plumbing, electrics and interior finishes are now progressing. The group of four JRSLAs is due for completion in October 2017.
Additional work is underway across Perham Down including a new Regimental Head Quarters and Armoury extension.
Rhod McGregor, Project Director for Aspire Defence Capital Works, said:
“Existing green space and hardstanding at Perham Down have been maximised to enable delivery of new infrastructure on the garrison. We’re very pleased with progress to date on site.”
