College sponsorship supports careers curriculum

£500 donation will fund 2020 STEM initiative at Avon Valley College

Aspire Defence Limited (ADL) is proud to be partnering with a local secondary school, supporting pupils’ entry into further education and careers in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM).

A £500 donation to Avon Valley College in Durrington, where many pupils come from Service families, will support delivery of a STEM event at the school in July 2020.

The money given by ADL will fund production of an ‘options booklet’ for every pupil attending the event, which will host around 25 local employers from STEM-related industries, including Army regiments based on the Project Allenby/Connaught estate.

Allan Thomson, Chief Executive of ADL, presented the sponsorship cheque to Mandy Weyers, Senior Pastoral Manager, and two GCSE pupils – Nina and Archie – after his participation in a mock-interview day for Year 11s, held at the school on Monday 2nd December.
