Armed Forces Day Celebrations a ‘platinum’ success
Aspire Defence was proud to sponsor the national Armed Forces Day Event in Salisbury (28th – 30th June).
Over 100 exhibitors took part in the Armed Forces Day national event at the end of June, transforming Hudson’s Field into a colourful, exciting celebration attended by more than 40,000 people.
The KBR Aspire Defence marquee proved especially popular over the three-day event. Thanks to a variety of fun activities – and a welcome respite from the soaring temperatures outside – the tent had a steady stream of visitors, including many military personnel and their families.
KBR’s virtual reality hub offered children a chance to ‘fly’ above a city skyline, while others put on hard hats to try their hand at brick building. A competition to win family tickets to Longleat attracted hundreds of entries, with participants completing a quiz about how Aspire Defence supports soldiers in Wiltshire and Hampshire.
Allan Thomson, Chief Executive of Aspire Defence Limited, said:
“This was a fantastic opportunity to thank all our Armed Forces for the important job they do. We were really proud to be platinum sponsors of the event and delighted to welcome such a huge turn-out of Service personnel and members of the public to our exhibition.”
Aspire Defence is responsible for building, improving and maintaining soldiers’ accommodation on Army garrisons across Salisbury Plain and at Aldershot. The company is currently supporting the Army Basing Programme, which involves troops relocating from Germany to Salisbury Plain Training Area (SPTA) this summer and numerous Units rebasing within the UK.
Around 2,400 single bed spaces have been delivered on SPTA garrisons, alongside technical, sports and dining facilities. New healthcare and education facilities will complete in Tidworth and Larkhill in early 2020.
