Salisbury MP visits Larkhill
John Glen, MP for Salisbury, was welcomed to Larkhill Garrison in September 2016 by the DIO, Aspire Defence and Royal Artillery, to attend a briefing on PAC and Army Basing.
Mr Glen said:
“This visit was an excellent opportunity to see first-hand the scale of infrastructure improvements taking place at Larkhill Garrison and the impressive standard of work already completed. It was particularly useful to learn more about how soldiers’ living and working environments across Salisbury Plain are getting better and what benefits this contract will bring for my potential constituents.”
A presentation over lunch with the Garrison Commander was followed by a tour, including viewing of both a ‘super-diner’ and soldiers’ accommodation.
Mark Furnival, Assistant Head of PAC for the DIO, said:
“As PAC enters a new phase of development in preparation for the return of troops from Germany by 2020, liaising with government will be key to ensuring that the needs of both military and civilian communities are recognised. Our meeting with Mr Glen was therefore a very useful starting point for ongoing conversations around PAC and how we can work collaboratively to maximise the positive impact it will bring for the area.”
Allan Thomson, Chief Executive of Aspire Defence, added:
“We’re extremely proud of our successful record delivering first-rate accommodation, garrison buildings and services to soldiers. We were very pleased to have an opportunity to demonstrate that success and share our future plans with Mr Glen.”
