Supporting the military response to Covid-19
A message from the Chief Executive…
Like countless businesses around the UK, Aspire Defence has been focusing over recent weeks on managing our response to the Coronavirus outbreak.
For us this means ensuring continued delivery of construction and facilities management services, including catering and cleaning, across Army garrisons, whilst following government guidelines to safeguard our staff, military customer and the public.
Many of the Units we support in Wiltshire are now helping with the national relief effort and in Aldershot we look after Montgomery House, home of the Standing Joint Command (SJC), which is the taskforce responsible for the military’s operational response to Covid-19.
It has been extremely gratifying to receive outstanding feedback from SJC commanders, praising the professionalism of Aspire Defence Services Limited and Sodexo. They have been working tirelessly to ensure soldiers continue to be accommodated safely and that the high-quality of food service on garrisons is maintained. Many aspects of day-to-day delivery have had to be adapted to align with public health advice, and the flexibility and positive attitude of the operational and hospitality teams is to be commended.
Aspire Defence Capital Works have been focused on maintaining construction pace in very difficult times – and doing their bit for the community, too, by donating spare supplies of personal protection equipment to the Wiltshire Health and Care Salisbury Community Team. The construction industry has faced unique challenges, not least an increasing shortage of materials as suppliers decided to suspend trading, and I am very grateful to our contractors and supply chain for their responsiveness and continued commitment to delivering the remaining infrastructure for the Army Basing Programme.
Aspire Defence is proud to be playing our part, supporting soldiers so they in turn can support the NHS and Government. Our staff share a great sense of personal satisfaction to be contributing in individual ways to the wider national effort. We will continue to collaborate closely with the MOD and Army to keep Defence working.
Chief Executive, Aspire Defence Limited
